Epiandrosterone Side Effects – Testosterone Supplement Cycle, Dosage and Alternatives

For those seeking to make serious gains and pack on muscle mass, Epiandrosterone has often been considered the OG supplement for bodybuilding. But is this DHT-driven supplement worth it? Does it live up to the hype? Or is it another compound leaving you with more side effects than gains?

Read on as we break down Epiandrosterone, discussing its benefits, side effects, and alternatives.

We all want our gym trips to pack a punch, right? If there’s a muscle-building supplement that can ensure your gym performance has an extra edge, pushing you to reach new levels of fat loss, bulking, strength, and lean muscle mass, then you’re probably going to be interested, sure?

Epiandrosterone, aka Epi-Andro, is one of the most popular muscle-building supplements out there. It’s a steroid hormone, classified as a designer steroid thanks to its being a legal compound available over the counter and without the same level of androgenic results as anabolic steroids. But is Epiandrosterone worth the investment? Let’s take a look.

What is Epiandrosterone?

If you want to get into it, Epiandrosterone is considered a derivative of Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). So, in other words, Epi-Andro is sourced from DHEA with a similar level of benefits. It’s not a straight-up anabolic steroid, instead, it’s part of a group of compounds called prohormones. You’ll often see Epiandrosterone and Androvar going hand-in-hand, but we’ll get into that later.

A type of chemical known as an anabolic steroid, Epiandrosterone, is converted in the body to testosterone and other sex hormones. In the US, it’s illegal to make supplements using anabolic steroids, and these chemicals have also been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

How does it work?

Typically, Epiandrosterone is utilized for weight loss, to reduce sexual issues, and in the bodybuilding world, to improve athletic performance, but there’s no scientific evidence to support its usage.

Once ingested, Epiandrosterone is converted into a metabolite of testosterone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Compared to testosterone, DHT seems to have a far greater androgenic and anabolic response than testosterone. Why does this matter? Because when a compound is androgenic, it supports the conditions needed to build muscle and fat loss. Therefore, increasing DHT in the bloodstream will help promote increased amino acid uptake, the building blocks of muscle tissue. As well as protecting current levels of muscle mass from breaking down, aka catabolism.

How to use Epiandrosterone? Epi-Andro dosage

Wondering how much Epi-Andro you need to take to see results? Well, the typical Epiandrosterone dosage is 250 – 500 mg per day. However, if you’ve never used Epiandrosterone before, we strongly recommend starting with a lower dosage, such as 250 mg daily, assessing how you react and increasing the dosage from there. However, never exceed 500 mg per day, if you do, seek professional medical advice.

Epiandrosterone cycles

A cycle should be four weeks, although more experienced users could push their cycle to six weeks. However, any Epiandrosterone cycle should be followed by a post-cycle therapy (PCT) round for at least four weeks before starting another Epiandrosterone cycle.

It’s important to note that you may not see any improvements in your performance or gains for at least two weeks. In fact, some users have reported not seeing results until their second cycle.

Epiandrosterone results

So, does Epi-Andro provide similar muscle-building results to other steroids? Well, unfortunately, we have no idea as there are currently no human studies or good scientific evidence that measures how much muscle mass you can build whilst on an Epiandrosterone cycle. The reports are all purely anecdotal.

However, there are a fair amount of positive reviews from users of Epi-Andro, with many reporting increases in strength and lean muscle gains. It’s worth bearing in mind that the amount of muscle built using DHT will never compare to using an anabolic steroid and athletic-level training.

In addition, considering the side effects of Epiandrosterone, we’re not sure the results you might gain are worth the adverse effects, including hair loss and long term harm.

Epiandrosterone side effects

Despite the potential gains and contribution to muscle building, when using Epiandrosterone in combination with an intense workout and balanced diet, the side effects of Epiandrosterone tend to put people off.

There are the almost expected side effects, such as headaches and nausea, but Epiandrosterone also has some severe side effects. Whilst it might not cause liver toxicity and damage like an anabolic steroid, it can cause side effects below.

Balding

DHT may promote muscle growth, but it also increases male pattern baldness. And studies suggest that dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is one of the factors responsible for promoting baldness. This is because once DHT is converted from testosterone, it can attach itself to hair follicles, shrinks the follicles, and ultimately causes hair to thin before eventually stopping growing altogether.

So, sure, it might help you pack on a few more lean muscle gains, but it could also steal your hair. This is particularly true if baldness runs in your family or if you’ve already noticed that your hair is starting to thin. Therefore, increasing the amount of DHT in your body will be like pouring gas on fire; your rate of hair loss will increase.

Prostate issues

DHT is an androgenic compound that helps promote the growth of male sex organs, with a strong emphasis on the prostate. As a young man, it’s essential to develop the prostate. However, if there’s too much DHT in your system as an adult, this can result in several health conditions. For example, studies show that too much DHT is linked to conditions such as prostate swelling, trouble with urination, and prostate cancer.

These side effects may not be as severe as anabolic steroids and the liver damage they can cause; however, they can still be very problematic. Considering how unimpressive the results of Epidrosterone can be, are they worth the risk?

What’s Androvar?

Androvar is a popular brand of Epiandrosterone, each serving contains 100 mg of Epiandrosterone, so you need to take two to five servings daily, depending on your Epiandrosterone experience, cycle, and dosage.

In addition, Androvar also contains 25 mg of Bergamottin, which drives a high intake of Epiandrosterone by blocking the enzyme CYP3A4. CYP3A4 is metabolized in the liver and would typically attach to Epiandrosterone to get rid of it. However, when CYP3A4 is blocked, your body absorbs more Epiandrosterone.

Epi-Ando alternatives

We’re 100% confident that you’ll be able to achieve the same, if not better, results through natural methods. And definitely without the risk of increasing your DHT levels, leading to baldness or prostate issues.
